Mtv Hustle 2.0 Anthem
After the tremendous success of Mtv Hustle in the year 2019, Mtv's debut in the rap genre, it was time for the second season but the pandemic was a major roadblock and held it back. Finally, Mtv India planned to launch the second season as Hustle 2.0 in 2022. We brainstormed ideas about having an anthem promo music video that showcases the 5 judges and their call to all the budding rappers for the show.
I had the opportunity to conceptualize the music video and provide my creative supervision starting from building the deck, coordinating with the lyricists, signing off on all final look test for the judges and set design. I was also responsible for making the motion poster for each of the judges and handled all the stage visuals for the show.
The idea for the music video stems from the fact that each of the judges are rappers and have been seasoned in the industry for a long period of time focusing on their own style and rapping skills and have built a fan base of their own. Each of these judges were given an alter ego that syncs in with their rap style and attitude.
For the track, we asked one of the judges EPR to layout a lyrics in collaboration with the other judges so everyone gets their own space on the track and showcase their own unique style.

Here are some of the ref for each of the judges look we developed. To boost the concept out to the viewers, we created cinemagraphs among many social media content for each of the judges that was designed to bring out their character and energy.
Samurai - EPR
Disciplined, calm, agile and ready to attack.
The set design for EPR was minimal with giant screens playing animations of a war zone and flashing lights
Playboy - King
Over the top, bling and vibrant.
I designed the set for King showing all things gold depicting wealth and luxury
Street / Cholo - Dee MC
With a lot of grit and in your face attitude, her personality represents the street.
For Dee MC, we had a car with lights neon lights to create a moody scene that plays well against her aggressive and sharp lyrics
The Psychopath - Dino James
Known for his hard hitting lyrics and for always speaking the truth. Dropping truth bombs and his unpredictability, he is a dangerous one man army.
I wanted a full white set which we managed to create for Dino James against alternating UV light scribbled walls that depicts his character's dual personality
Kingpin - Badshah
The look is Minimal, yet Suave & Sophisticated.
He represents power, authority and control amongst all the warriors.
For Badshah, I designed a set envisioned as his ultimate lair—where he reigns supreme and everyone answers to him
The high-energy music video resonated strongly with India’s hip-hop and emerging rap community, amassing over 2 million views within just two weeks of its launch.
