For the first season of Daredevil: Born Again, Executive Producer Sana Amanat and writer Dario Scardapane approached us at Perception with a clean slate, reimagining what the title sequence could be. As a revival and continuation of the original Daredevil series (2015–2018), now under Marvel Studios, this presented an opportunity to visually redefine the tone. We drew deep inspiration from the phrase Born Again, exploring themes of rebirth through the metaphor of weathered, crumbling statues — iconic and gritty, much like New York City itself, where the story unfolds.
Each character and scene was envisioned as a representation of a societal institution breaking down under Kingpin’s rule. From the ruins, debris, and chaos, Daredevil emerges — a symbol of justice rising to restore balance. The sequence leans heavily into dramatic light and shadow, unfolding as a slow burn that mirrors the brooding atmosphere of the season’s opening episode.
I was responsible for developing the initial pitch frames that helped establish a clear visual direction for the title sequence. My role included modeling several key elements such as the church, police badge, flagpole, and Kingpin’s. I also contributed to the animation of multiple shots and crafted the visual look for smoke and dust effects. In addition, I managed the project’s edit and oversaw the technical aspects of the final delivery process.
