In crafting the title sequence, we took an abstract approach by focusing on the activation and deactivation of the Leader's mind-controlling lights. These lights follow an initial pattern but grow increasingly random as they power up, creating a mesmerizing hypnotic effect.
This dynamic mirrors the sequence's development, starting with straightforward light patterns that evolve into more chaotic and random displays, yet maintain a clear order. We segmented the sequence into four thematic parts—Mind Control, Disruption, Teamwork, and Breaking Free—reflecting the movie’s progression.
We experimented with the look of the lights, including numerous animation tests and tweaking to sync with the beat of Kendrick Lamar's track 'i.' I was responsible for designing some of the frames for the title seq and led the animation for those shots.
